Investor Highlight: Redpoint Ventures' Content Creation Engine

Like anyone who has ever Googled someone before a first date, startup founders are similarly considering the online presence of potential VC matches. Rather than scroll through vacation selfies and Twitter rants for possible romantic harmony, founders are wondering if their future business partner has the clout to take their businesses to the next level. How many followers do they have? Whom do they know and what do they know? Investors are taking steps to build their online brand, from Andreessen Horowitz launching a media company to Redpoint Ventures hiring a satirical TikTok creator.

Redpoint, the San Francisco-based backer of Stripe and Snowflake, is launching its media clout campaign through a podcast, newsletter, YouTube videos, Instagram, and TikTok accounts. The team behind Redpoint is unique in that it boasts a solid proportion of female investors (for instance, there are four women out of nine total partners in the early-stage squad).

While we wait for the official launch of these media branches, the team has been busy securing deals. The firm recently participated in biz dev API creator Fabric’s $140MM Round C and led a seed round for microservice testing platform Signadot.
