Welcome to our final week of 2021! We hope you got everything you wanted this year and nothing you didn’t (ahem, Covid). Here at the Daily Stack, we are grateful for your continued readership and welcome the newest subscribers who have helped our community double in the last six months alone. Thanks for tuning in to our coverage of hot topics like NFTs, the metaverse, SPACs, and more while also examining the changes in longstanding businesses and industries. Here’s a look back on some of our most popular stories of the year.

  1. Our most-read story covered a little-known side hustle of a popular investment vehicle, the Special Purpose Acquisition Company. The article, “SPACs as Bond Alternatives,” described how risk-comfy investors place their money in SPACs pre-target announcement and sell off for a few percentage points of profit after the announcement of the acquisition company. Clever.

  2. Surprise, surprise. Our second most-read article also had to do with SPACs, this time a data-heavy breakdown of how SPAC mergers were faring on the public markets. The results? Not great. Read “What the Data Say About SPACs.”

  3. Readers told us they loved Tech Bubble 2.0, where examined the speculation around us regarding whether we are in another tech bubble. What’s different from today vs. the ‘90s? Who is holding the investments?

  4. Many of you were curious about the entrepreneurial bent of the trucking industry in our article, “The Solopreneur Reaches Trucking.” We looked at the factors leading to a trucker shortage and one company laying the groundwork for CEOs of one.

  5. Just in the past few weeks, we’ve seen some of our highest readership on articles relating to crypto in the creator economy, the latest McKinsey report, and the executive to VC pipeline at leading firms.

Stay tuned as we continue to recap the top trends and insights from the year and look ahead to 2022.
