As markets continue to shake, more investors are allocating resources to early-stage companies. Going against the grain is Silicon Valley staple, SV Angel. The firm closed a $269MM growth equity fund in early March for collaborative rounds in the $5-$20MM range for Series Bs & Cs. The fund has clout based on investing in top companies like Airbnb and Slack and has its hands in the pockets of prepping-to-go-public companies like Instacart and Stripe.

The fund, led by founding partner Ron Conway and his son Topher Conway, had previously taken a stance on outsized seed rounds in venture capital, stating they would no longer be taking outside investments. But with this latest fund, SV Angel will have a chance to apply its recipe for seed-stage success to companies already meeting customer needs and challenges.

For insight into what catches SV Angel's investment eyes, here’s a look at recent fundings:

Mona Gallery brings the art gallery concept to the metaverse. Think no stale crackers or white wine, just collectible art and community. SV Angel contributed alongside many metaverse believers in the start-up's $14.6MM Round A.

Modular believes we haven’t gone far enough with our implementation of AI. It has created a developer platform for advancing AI techniques that will bring us closer to autonomous vehicles, global food security, and more. Those high aspirations earned the company a $30MM seed round in June.

Graft is trying to make AI accessible to the 99%. Its cloud-based platform enables teams to use AI without formal training, tech savviness, or in-house infrastructure. SV Angel participated in the seed round led by GV in May.
