Jeff Bezos went to space this week and came back a giddy cowboy with a newfound appreciation of planet Earth. In his post-flight interview with Anderson Cooper, he talked about the urgency to save our delicate planet by shipping all polluting industries out of this atmosphere (what?!). In a world increasingly suffering from climate change (where even rich nations can’t escape the threat), it’s an interesting premise for the world’s richest man to suggest regular space tourism through his company, Blue Origin, as a step toward preparing ourselves to save the planet.

Here’s a recap of this week’s top stories from PrivCo:

  • Big Tech grabs all the headlines, but what about Big Cereal? We looked at the conglomeration of food producers with irrefutable power over our food systems, a paradigm that currently affects our grocery bill. Learn more about these producers and the AgTech companies disrupting the industry here.

  • Tuesday’s investor highlight focused on busy bee New York investors, Tiger Global Management. Their big-ticket investments broke records in the second quarter, which saw over $150BN in total investments among all VCs. Learn more about the firm & its portfolio here.

  • Got bored kids or a socially awkward office? There’s a new generation of “casual athletics” ready to turn your team-building exercise into a veritable party with bowling, mini-golf, or go-karts. Check out the next-gen of smelly shoe rentals here.

  • The beauty industry is worth an estimated $500BN dollars and growing, as influencers, celebrities, and TikTokers continue to expand the trends. We looked at the legacy brands growing their portfolios of independent brands and the cult-favorite companies in super-growth. Check them out.
