Good morning! In case you’ve been under a rock the past week, the trillion-dollar Facebook was the subject of Frances Haugen’s glaring whistleblower account of the company's disregard for the spread of misinformation in the pursuit of profit, a characterization Zuckerberg rejected outright. The following day’s shutdown of Facebook, Instagram, Whatsapp (all owned by Facebook) was apparently unrelated to the negative fanfare. The question on the minds of many is: will Congress stand up the institution so intertwined with our everyday operations?

Here’s a refresher on the week’s stories from PrivCo:

  • We started the week looking at supply chain holdups resulting in higher prices. Some of the country’s largest ports are congested with cargo ships. The results of inefficiencies in the supply chain are pushing business leaders and investors to overhaul the industry. Learn more.
  • Tuesday’s investor profile focused on the angel investment panel that lets us peer into the group's business dealings with wannabe millionaires, Shark Tank. The show isn’t just good entertainment (with a viewership of nearly 4 million per episode); it’s also inspiration for people who have novel ideas. See the successes.
  • The Roses of Schitt’s Creek fame have lent inspiration to couples and friends of the creative class who’ve been buying up old roadside motels. We looked at the business dealings of some of New York City’s creatives fleeing the city. Check it out.
  • Yesterday we looked at the nail care industry currently gaining a stake in the beauty industry. With annual spending in the $1,000s for nail art aficionados, press-ons, stickers and robotic manicures are the new salon experience. Learn more.
