Asana Business Model: Streamlining Workflow

Dustin Moskovitz, a Facebook Co-Founder, created Asana as a tool to streamline workflow. (The name Asana is a Sanskrit word meaning “easeful posture,” often used in Yoga.)

Moskovitz helped found Facebook along with Mark Zuckerberg, Eduardo Saverin and Chris Hughes while at Harvard in 2004. As the other programmer in addition to Zuckberg, his job was to oversee Facebook's rapidly growing network of computer servers hosting the Facebook site.

After leaving Facebook in 2008, Moskovitz teamed up with Google alumnus Justin Rosenstein to create a version of company management software for networked companies called Asana.

Asana is task-based enterprise software, effectively a shared task to-do list for a company or a particular corporate department. Work via Asana is assigned using the Asana application and completed by different team members at different times and locations.
