Detailed Business Description: Organic Avenue, LLC
Foundation
Organic Avenue was founded in 2000 by Denise Mari in her Lower East Side loft. Mari was able to open up shop thanks to investor capital from Doug Evans, a technology entrepreneur who invested in Organic Avenue in 1999 after meeting Mari and believing in her organic vision.
Philosophy and Strategy
The firm sells organic, vegan products to an upmarket clientele, using the acronym "LOVE" (Live, Organic, Vegan, Experience) to market its product. A juice typically costs around $10 and its cleansing (and "maintenance") packages cost approximately $120.
Incorporation and Growth
In 2006, the privately-held organic juicebar incorporated and started using a kitchen and manufacturing facility in Long Island City, Queens. The 4400 square foot kitchen was a large upgrade from the 300 square foot space Organic Avenue had been using previously. Sales ramped up accordingly.
