Machinima Inc. is a company that provides video content specializing in movies and clips made from video game footage. The company was founded in 2000 by Hugh Hancock, of Strange Company, who was bought out by Allen DeBevoise in 2004. Machinima’s appeal revolves around the machinima videos – a mash-up of the words machine and cinema – generated by video game engines, as video games are manipulated to create animation. Machinima has gained popularity for itself by producing, aggregating, and hosting video content created from these video games. Some of its most popular content has been based around video game franchises such as “Call of Duty” and “Halo”.
