Lytro's cameras have the ability to capture the entire light field, allowing users to snap photographs now and worry about focusing later. A sensor within the camera captures color, intensity, and the angles of about 11 million light rays, enabling users to take photographs now and change the focus of the image long after it has been shot. This eliminates the waiting time for a camera to automatically focus and prevents blurry pictures. The innovative light field technology utilized by Lytro allows for new capabilities such as 3D viewing. Because it is a new technology, the camera lacks features such as a flash and its software is currently only compatible with Mac computers. The cameras, which come in assorted colors, cost $399 and $499 for the 8 GB and 16 GB models, respectively.
