Gowalla, Inc. is a privately-held social media company that specialized in location-based services. Gowalla marketed its services as a social travel guide for people on the go by being an Internet medium through which people could share photos, places, and highlights with friends. In 2010, Gowalla won the Mobile category in the South by Southwest (SXSW) Interactive Awards. Gowalla was founded in August 2007 by Josh Williams and Scott Raymond and has headquarter locations in Austin, Texas. Gowalla, Inc. was acquired by Facebook on December 2, 2011. Gowalla's two co-founders, Josh Williams and Scott Raymond, have since joined Facebook's design and engineering team.
