Detailed Business Description: EmSense Corporation
EmSense is the brainchild of technology specialists from MIT and HP Labs. It was founded in 2004 with the primary aim of applying scientific techniques to study consumer behavior, and subsequently facilitate businesses to better woo the attention of the end user. In 2008, Scott Smith, a Business Development Vice President at Electrode Arrays, joined EmSense as a Vice President. In early 2009, Mark Mallardi, a veteran of the industry, was appointed as the Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing.
The flagship product of EmSense is the EmBand™, a headband-like device that contains a hardware-software package to record brainwaves, which are essentially troughs and spikes indicative of stimulating memory, emotion, and attention of the user. The device tracks pupil movements, heartbeat variations, breathing patterns, skin temperature, and other sensory parameters.
