The 10-Gigabit Ethernet (10GbE) standard was drafted in 2002 by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). Still, its age hasn’t stopped 10GbE from being the fastest standard available as of November 2009. Mostly used by large corporations and universities with fast internet connections (like T3, OC-12, OC-48, etc.), Chelsio’s 10-Gigabit products handle the large amounts of data processed by these institutions daily.
The Company’s line of wired adapters (dubbed T3 “Terminator” ASIC) and routers are matched with servers from HP, IBM, Dell, etc. to make corporate networks faster. From there, the devices can manage networked communications between users, data storages, and computing centers, processing up to one million simultaneous connections at once.
As of November 2009, Chelsio services 150 clients, including IBM, NEC, HP, EMC and SLAC.
