Founded in 1958 by James E. Stowers, Jr. as Twentieth Century Investments, American Century Investments is a privately-held investment management company based in Kansas City, Missouri. American Century offers a wide range of products, including mutual funds, institutional separate accounts, commingled trusts and sub-advisory accounts (please read PrivCo's full length report on American Century for detailed information on American Century's offerings). With more than 1300 employees, American Century operates from its headquarters in Kansas City as well as from offices in New York, New York; Mountain View, California, London, England and Hong Kong. The Stowers Institute as well J.P. Morgan own American Century Investments (please see PrivCo's Ownership Table for a detailed information on the ownership, including ownership percentage of each owner). American Century's ownership structure was instituted in such a way that more than 40% of its profits should support the research of genetically-based diseases.
