Detailed Business Description: Allrecipes.com, Inc.
Business Model
Revenue: Allrecipes.com’s revenues are primarily derived from its ad services. Allrecipes.com is unique in that it does not sell single banner ads. Rather, the company sells ad space and partnerships to companies operating in the food and cooking space including: Nestle, Kraft, General Mills, and Hershey. Additional advertisers include McCormick & Co., Sara Lee, Mann's Fresh Vegetables, Cooking Light, and Southern living. This has allowed Allrecipes to direct its advertising space to a specific user base, increasing the company’s ad click-through-rate. By selling these partnerships, Allrecipes.com has a more stable ad revenue stream than other websites that sell single banner ads. Allrecipes.com also generates revenue by selling books containing a collection of the highest rated recipes from the site along with partnerships to cooking book publishers.
